Joseph G. Auer Is Dead at 53

Joseph G. Auer, 53 years old, insurance salesman in St. Joseph many years, died this morning at Mount Vernon, Mo. He was born at Salix, Iowa, and lived at Atchison, Kan., before moving to St. Joseph in 1932. He had been a district manager of the Omaha Mutual Insurance Company over 20 years, and of the local branch office of Woodmap Accident Insurance of Lincoln the past three years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dale Auer of th home; two daughters, Miss Janet Auer, also of the home, and Mrs. J. W. Cates, St. Joseph; one sister, Mrs. Frances Strohm, Maryville, Mo.; and five brothers, Alphonse Auer, Ravenwood, Mo.; Frank and Gregor Auer, Conception, Mo.; Anthony Auer, Waubun, Minn., and the Rev. Raymond Auer, Madison, Neb. Services will be conducted at the St. Francis Xavier Church and burial will be in Conception, Mo.

Service arrangements for Mrs. Dale Auer, 87, the widow of Joseph Auer, are pending at the Heaton-Bowman mortuary.

Mrs. Auer, 920 Paine street, died Wednesday night at a St. Joseph hospital. A native of Holt county, she had lived here since 1932.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Kates, Las Vega, and Mrs. Janice Lorenz, Rockville, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Charley Gilliham, Skidmore; Mrs. Mae Hardman, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Clara Steph, Richmond, Cal.; one brother, Frank Coston, Skidmore, and nine grandchildren.
