John Scott Burns

Word has been received by Marlan and Katherine Toombs, 340 S. Arthur, of the death of former Pocatellan John Scott Burns, 64, in Monterey, Calif., after a heart attack.

Member of a pioneer Pocatello family, Mr. Burns was born here July 24, 1909, to John and Hattie Scott Burns. His father was a Union Pacific Railroad conductor. He attended St. Joseph School and Idaho Southern Branch in Pocatello and also was educated in California. He served in the Army.

Mr. Burns managed the Huntington family estate. He lived in Europe for some time but in recent years lived in Palm Springs and Monterey, Calif.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Burns, and his sister, Anna Burns, both of Monterey.

His body was cremated, and the remains were taken by plane by a Catholic priest and scattered over the Pacific Ocean.
