COLUMBUS MAN IS INTERRED

COLUMBUS, Jan. 23 — Thomas W. Townsend, 64 years old, an inventor, farmer and merchant, died at his home at Columbus.

He was the originator of the New Hope Gravel company and the Columbus Gravel company and after disposing of those enterprises organized the Kolola Gravel company. He invented and patented an automatic alarm warning motorists at railroad crossing. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American war. He is survived by his widow and four children.
